IPAF CAP Course

Course summary

The IPAF Competent Assessed Person (CAP) course is an advanced training and assessment programme designed for experienced engineers, technicians, site managers and safety professionals responsible for thorough examinations, maintaining and managing Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPS). The course ensures that candidates meet the highest standards of safety and competence in powered access compliance and thorough examination.

Who Will Benefit from the Course

Experienced Engineers, MEWP Technicians, Workshop Managers, Site Managers and Safety Professionals, those responsible for the safety and maintenance of powered access equipment.

Objectives Of the Programme

By the end of the course, the delegates will be able to :

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of current legislation (LOLER, PUWER, BSEN280) and best practices related to powered access equipment.
  • Conduct detailed, thorough examinations relating to MEWPs.
  • Identify and report equipment defects in line with manufacturer guidance and legal requirements.
  • Maintain effective records and documentation in line with LOLER, PUWER and BSEN280.

Course prerequisites:

Minimum 4 years engineering experience, of which the last 12 months must have been in a MEWP engineering experience.
Prove a level of experience through the manufacturer and other relevant courses through certification and a current CV. This will be verified by the instructor prior to the course date.

1 day on-site training.
