F-TEC practice what they preach with new apprentice

18-year-old Ellie Shaw has been taken on as an apprentice by the Forklift Training Engineering Centre (F-TEC).

F-TEC is a dedicated training facility, offering an extensive range of engineering programmes, including; apprenticeships, advanced level courses, thorough examination, diagnostics, safety, and more.

Ellie is enrolled on the Level 2 Business Admin apprenticeship at New College, based in Swindon.

Karl Baum, managing director of F-TEC, said “Through F-TEC, we promote apprenticeships and train them up to be industry ready. It’s a fantastic way to recruit new members of staff and grow your business and now we are following the same lead with taking on an apprentice for the admin team.”

Ellie’s main focus will be on customer service.

Ellie said, “I wanted to do an apprenticeship because you cannot go into a business administration role without experience. I wanted to gain experience and also a qualification to increase the possibility of being able to do this role in the future.”

Ellie found out about F-TEC through the government apprenticeship website. She goes on to say, “I did not know a lot about the company, so I researched it. I chose F-TEC because I found out that it was a great place to be, with a family environment and they take care of the apprentices and help in any way they can. The staff are also really nice, and I couldn’t have hoped for better people to be working with.

“This apprenticeship means a lot to me as I had applied for a lot of apprenticeships previously but was unsuccessful because I did not have any experience. The fact that F-TEC have given me the opportunity to do this makes me really happy and proud to be part of such a great team. It also allows for me to develop my skills in this area and to learn how to do business admin properly.”

The training centre was created to address the training needs of the forklift truck industry. Working with some of the leading manufacturers in the industry and over 40 independent companies, F-TEC delivers training designed by the industry, for the industry.

Ellie said, “I hope that this will lead me to a full-time business admin job in the future as it is something I have a passion for and have always wanted to do, hopefully it will be at F-TEC. So far, I have learnt a lot and will keep learning as much as I can and will try my hardest. I am really enjoying my time at F-TEC.”
