High Access Awareness (HA), Harness Use (HU), and Harness Inspection (HI)<\/em><\/p>\n

Aims<\/strong><\/h3>\n

  • To equip delegates with the essential knowledge and practical skills for safe working at height.<\/li>\n
  • To promote the correct use, fitting, and inspection of safety harnesses and lanyards.<\/li>\n
  • To help employers meet legal obligations under Work at Height, PPE, and health and safety regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Objectives<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    By the end of these courses, delegates will be able to:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Understand the risks associated with working at height and how to mitigate them.<\/li>\n
    • Select and correctly fit a full-body harness and lanyard.<\/li>\n
    • Identify different types of fall protection equipment and their appropriate use.<\/li>\n
    • Carry out thorough inspections of harnesses and lanyards in line with manufacturer and HSE guidelines.<\/li>\n
    • Recognise when harness equipment should be removed from service or replaced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      IPAF HA (High Access Awareness)<\/strong><\/h3>\n
        \n
      • Introduction to working at height principles<\/li>\n
      • Overview of fall protection requirements<\/li>\n
      • Risk assessment and planning for safe access<\/li>\n
      • Introduction to harness systems<\/li>\n
      • Emergency procedures and rescue planning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        IPAF HU (Harness Use) <\/strong>Practical session only.<\/em><\/h3>\n
          \n
        • Correct fitting, adjustment, and use of harnesses<\/li>\n
        • Anchor points and lanyard connections in different MEWP types<\/li>\n
        • Pre-use checks and safety considerations during operation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          IPAF HI (Harness Inspection)<\/strong><\/h3>\n
            \n
          • Legal and regulatory framework for PPE inspection (PUWER, LOLER)<\/li>\n
          • Detailed inspection procedures for harnesses and lanyards<\/li>\n
          • Common signs of wear, damage, and expiry<\/li>\n
          • Inspection frequency and documentation requirements<\/li>\n
          • Recording and reporting faults and defects<\/li>\n
          • Storage and maintenance best practices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Who Should Attend?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

            • MEWP operators (HA & HU only)<\/em><\/li>\n
            • Site supervisors and safety managers<\/li>\n
            • Engineers or personnel responsible for equipment inspection<\/li>\n
            • Anyone working at height using fall protection systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Course duration:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

              HA & HU half-day on-site training<\/p>\n

              HA HU HI 1 day on-site training (NB: HI cannot be completed without successful completion of HA & HU)<\/em><\/p>\n

              Certification<\/strong><\/h3>\n
