upLIFT Magazine F-TEC: FLT engineer training and apprenticeships

In one of the most significant developments since the formation of CFTS, the FLTA and BITA have joined forces to create a training centre dedicated specifically to the training of fork lift engineers and apprentices.

F-TEC (the Forklift Training Engineering Centre) – has been created by the industry for the industry and puts industry training and apprenticeships firmly in the hands of the organisations that know exactly what is required.

With immediate effect, all training courses will move to the F-TEC training centre in Swindon.

Importantly, rapid progress is being made in setting up the new centre in order to ensure a seamless transition from the BITA Academy.

All current apprentices have been transferred to the F-TEC programme which will be headed up by Kevin Michel – a figure well known and respected by students and client companies alike. The first course for apprentices commenced in July and dates for engineer training courses have already been agreed with the FLTA. They will start, as usual, in September following the summer break.

In order to make F-TEC and its services more accessible, an additional training facility, to cover Scotland and the north of the England, is currently under consideration.

This important new venture is further evidence of the close working relationship that exists between this association and BITA.
